Soil Moisture Detection & Monitoring: Real-time capacitive sensors (preferred over resistive to avoid corrosion) measure volumetric water content. Additional sensors for temperature, humidity, light intensity, optional pH/EC/nutrients.
Auto-Watering System: Threshold-based or schedule-adjusted irrigation via submersible pumps, solenoid valves, or drip systems. Integrates weather APIs (e.g., OpenWeatherMap) to skip watering during rain.
Resonance Frequency Generation: Plays specific sound frequencies or tones shown in studies to potentially stimulate growth, improve drought tolerance, or enhance secondary metabolites. Options: sine waves (e.g., 250 Hz–4 kHz ranges from research), nature sounds, or curated "plant music" playlists. Delivered via piezo buzzers, connected speakers, Bluetooth modules, or smart speakers near plants.
Beginning Features.Big ideas, real impact.
Advanced Capabilities: Camera integration for visual plant health (ML-based disease/pest detection via TensorFlow Lite or cloud), growth tracking, nutrient reminders, alerts/notifications (push, email, SMS), historical data dashboards/charts, multi-zone/garden support, user accounts, exportable reports, optional community sharing of setups/tips.
Predictive/AI Elements: Basic rules engine or lightweight ML (e.g., via edge or cloud) for optimal watering/frequency schedules based on historical sensor data, plant type, growth stage.
Scalability & Extras: Battery/solar-powered nodes, LoRaWAN for larger areas, integration with voice assistants (Alexa/Google), data logging for research/export.
Scientific Foundation for Frequencies
Plants perceive sound/vibrations mechanically (no ears) and respond physiologically. Studies show sound waves influence:
Germination rates
Growth/development
Yield
Membrane permeability
Protoplasmic streaming
Gene expression
Secondary metabolite production (e.g., defense compounds)
Drought tolerance (e.g., 4 kHz stimuli)
Root growth toward water sounds (phonotropis)
